New Poetics Publishing is an independent publishing house based between Medellín and New York, founded by artists Nechama Winston and Cristina Velásquez. New Poetics Publishing is part of New Poetics of Labor, a research platform founded in 2017.

We collaborate with artists on contemporary and experimental approaches to photography in the book form. Through photography we contribute to alternative modes of learning and thinking. NPP prioritizes producing high quality affordable photography books. Our approach to publishing allows us to work in close collaboration with artists from start to finish, with all design and editing done in-house. Production is done locally and by close friends.

Our interest is in building community and providing a platform for artists to have their work seen in a sustainable and supportive way for everyone we collaborate with. The relationships we make with artists and independent publishers are invaluable to our practice.

Our publishing practice is rooted in a decentralized perspective — one that privileges listening, collaboration, and the creation of multiple points of entry into the photographic discourse. For us, decentralization means making space for underrepresented voices and aesthetics to shape the conversation, not tied to a single authority but dispersed among many: artists, readers, communities, languages, and places.
